Nice segment from Andy Staples about conference realignment thinking
From the Athletic. Rest of the article talks about the BigTen raiding or coordinating with the Pac-12 and is behind a paywall. But here is the opening paragraph. I think it's good.
"If you’re trying to figure out what the Power 5 conferences will be after this next round of realignment, you’re already wrong.
If you’re trying to figure out how the deck will get shuffled during this round of realignment to place 16 teams in the four wealthiest conferences, you’re also already wrong.
This round of realignment — just like all the rest — will be a competition between the people who believe there are rules to this sort of thing and the people who are limited only by the boundaries of their imaginations. The second group usually wins, and the first group usually seems surprised when it loses." [Post edited by Maroon Baboon at 07/26/2021 08:37AM]
